Mike has nearly 25 years experience working with large and small businesses, including:
  • Over 15 years in production management and technical development roles in the pulp & paper, power generation, minerals processing, chemicals and environmental sectors.
  • Nearly 10 years as a consultant to manufacturing industry and small business.
In establishing Maxell Consulting, Mike decided to combined his knowledge of systems and procedures with his passion for profits, and focus on helping small business create “big business” outcomes.

Mike has helped many businesses develop innovative plans to drive expansion, increase profits and secure a long term future.   He has also had extensive experience in regional economic development projects, working with hundreds of small businesses to find new markets, increase market share or develop a new direction.

In corporate life, his experience in managing large groups of continuous shift employees, leading plant upgrade projects in excess of $6 million and managing annual operating budgets over $14 million has taught him the importance of systems in achieving results.

Bill plays a key consulting role within Maxell Consulting in conducting our SaleReady workshops and providing considerable consulting expertise in the areas of business strategy development, SME exit strategy and succession planning.

Bill Pickett has over 30 years experience covering a wide variety of management consulting projects whilst working with companies like PA Consultants, Vipac Engineers and Scientists Ltd and D.M.L. & Associates.   He has also held senior line management positions with ACI, which involved working both in Australia and overseas.   Bill is one of the founding directors of the consultancy Laney Pickett Thomas, established in 1993. 

His experience includes business development and marketing, management consulting, manufacturing and productivity improvement. 

In the past Bill has been a director of a wide variety of companies such as vehicle and boat manufacturing, software development, training and education.   He is currently a board member of a construction and project management company, director of a not-for-profit provider of community services and Chairman of a training and funds management business.
